Kurumi MurataEditor, Japanese & English print

A hundred years of the Southeast Japanese School and Community Center, shot as director of photography — an award winner at Borderless, and given its North American premiere at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.

Her most widely seen work, and the only one on this site with a public record attached: five festivals across Los Angeles, Miyakojima and Tokyo, one of them an award. She helped lead a production team of about ten, working across the whole process to hold one visual direction steady.

  • Key art for The Nikkei of Norwalk: an archival photograph of judo students outside the Southeast Japanese School, under five festival laurels.
